Quick Slim Belt
This belt, worked in single ball of yarn and strengthened by synthetic leather cord, is intended less as a belt for style or decoration but more as support for trousers or other articles of clothing.
You can work this belt in desired size, for adult or child, by simply varying the number of rows. A plus size belt may require more than one ball of yarn, and longer leather cord. The model shown (for small size) measures 26 inches long and 1 inch wide.
Yarn: Acrylic yarn, fingering
Color: One ball of yarn (about 25g) green
One ball of yarn is enough for a small size belt (26 inches, without ties).
Hooks: Aluminum crochet hook size 4/0 (2.50mm) Or size to obtain gauge
Sewing needle and scissors
Synthetic leather cord, 46 inches long
Wooden ring, 2mm diameter with hole 0.75mm
Gauge: Gauge is not very important in this project.
Terminology: Pattern is written using US crochet terminology
Row 1: Ch 4, sl st in first ch to form ring, 5 sc in ring, ch 3, 3 dc in ring, ch 2, 4 dc in ring, ch 2, turn.
Row 2: 4 dc in ch-2 sp, ch 2, 4 dc in same sp, ch 2, turn. Rep row 2 to desired length. Fasten off.
Weave leather cord through ch-2 sps of belt, leaving out at least 3 inches of the cord at one end. Slip wooden ring through, fold cord and sew end of cord securely over.
At other end of belt, loop cord around last ch-2 sp to secure. Knot end of cord.
